A bond is a financial guarantee to ensure that a person who is charged with a crime will appear in court. They must appear in court unless otherwise directed by a judge of the appropriate court. The Catoosa County Jail accepts a variety of bonds.
Cash Bond
A cash bond may be posted by anyone. It must be U.S. Currency in the exact amount of the bond since the jail cannot make change. If the charges are City charges you may have to post the cash bond at the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department or the Ringgold Police Department.
Property Bond
A person who owns property within Catoosa County can post a property bond. They must provide a valid ID to the clerk. The clerk will obtain the property information from the Tax Assessor’s website. The net assessment must be double the bond amount and the taxes must be up to date. All persons listed on the tax receipt must be present and sign the property bond.
Transfer Bond
A transfer bond is a property bond signed by a person(s) who owns property in another Georgia county. It must be signed at the Sheriff’s Office in the county where the property is located. The person(s) signing the transfer bond must return that bond to the Catoosa County Jail in a sealed envelope from the Sheriff’s Office in the county where the bond was signed.
